PayPal Holdings has announced the appointment of Alex Chriss, a seasoned executive from Intuit, as its President and CEO, effective from September 27, 2023. Following an extensive search process by the Board of Directors, Chriss has been chosen for his substantial experience in global payments, product innovation, and technology leadership, the company said in a statement.

Chriss, who currently serves as the Executive Vice President and General Manager of Intuit's Small Business and Self-Employed Group, has been instrumental in driving revenue growth and delivering impactful products to a worldwide user base.

Chriss, a seasoned leader with extensive technology and product expertise, has been serving as the Executive Vice President and General Manager of Intuit's Small Business and Self-Employed Group since January 2019.

Chriss currently serves on Intuit's executive leadership team and has led a global organisation of thousands of colleagues that delivered QuickBooks and Mailchimp to millions of users around the world.

He played a pivotal role in Intuit's successful $12 billion acquisition of Mailchimp in 2021, significantly enhancing the company's market presence and offerings.

With nearly two decades of experience at Intuit, Chriss has held diverse leadership roles, showcasing his dedication to product development and management. John Donahoe, Chair of the PayPal Board of Directors, commended Chriss's expertise and customer-centric approach.

Former CEO Dan Schulman will remain actively involved as a board member until the company's upcoming annual stockholders' meeting in May 2024.
