The focus on women is also evident in other companies in India that have traditionally taken the issue of bringing diversity in their companies seriously. Of the 265 engineers that SAP Labs India hired from colleges this year, 42 percent are women. For Cisco India, the figure is 22 percent this year. It seems the IT industry is paying heed to the numerous studies that show that increasing gender equality enhances productivity and economic growth.
