L’Oréal India receives EDGE gender equality Certification

The EDGE Certification was granted to L’Oréal India after an independent verification of the findings by a third-party auditor

L’Oréal India is the first and the only company in India to receive the prestigious Economic Dividends for Gender Equality certification (EDGE). EDGE is the only business certification for gender equality applicable universally across industries and geographies. The assessment process by EDGE involves a comprehensive review of the company’s gender policies and a deep analysis of the gender data.

As a part of the EDGE methodology, L’Oréal India conducted a survey with all its employees on gender equality, covering areas such as recruitment and promotion, leadership development, equal pay, flexibility and company culture. The EDGE Certification was granted to L’Oréal India after an independent verification of the findings by a third-party auditor.

“Gender equality in the workplace is a subject which is critical in a country like India. We are incredibly proud that we have received the respected EDGE certification that reinforced our commitment towards practicing gender equality at the workplace.” said Mohit James, L’Oréal India, HR Director. “This is not only crucial to our success across our businesses, but also gives us a competitive edge towards attracting talent. Our effort towards building gender equal leadership is continuous and this certification is a great validation towards this goal.”

Since its launch at the World Economic Forum in January 2011, more than 100 companies in 30 countries and in 17 industries use the EDGE assessment methodology and certification process to create an optimal, balanced workplace for men and women. The methodology and standard enables a company to accurately assess how it performs both at a country and at a global level.

“EDGE is a workforce analytics approach to inform gender equality strategies and priorities.  It serves as an interpretive lens to transform quantitative and qualitative metrics into impactful action plans," said Aniela Unguresan, co-founder of EDGE Certified Foundation. "By receiving the EDGE Move certification, L’Oréal India confirms to have a gender-balanced talent pipeline and to have achieved substantial milestones in creating an inclusive workplace culture.”
