The company and its Founder Chairman, Rai Bahadur M.S. Oberoi a true visionary, anticipated the need to focus on people, resulting in the establishment of The Oberoi Centre for Learning and Development (OCLD), a globally benchmarked institute, in 1966. 

The Oberoi Centre for Learning and Development (OCLD) does not just develop technical competencies of individuals but also nurtures their leadership potential 

With its own learning institute, offering Under Graduate and Post Graduate courses in hospitality management, The Oberoi Group nurtures its own talent. The curriculum at the institute is developed keeping in mind not just the technical competencies but also personal attributes, and leadership styles among other things. The first criterion for hiring is that an individual should have the potential to grow at least two levels up from the position he/she is hired for. 

OCLD’s three-year STEP programme is designed for students completing high school.  The STEP programme combines practical on the job learning with study towards a Bachelor of Tourism Studies degree from the Indira Gandhi National Open University.  Trainees are provided with assistance in the form of study materials and dedicated time to prepare for the exams for their undergraduate degree.
