Amit contextualizes problems before solving them

In his own words, this is what the ‘Are You In The List’ 2015 winner has to say about himself.

Amit Papneja, Manager - Field Readiness, Asian Paints Ltd.

I am in a functional training role at Asian Paints Ltd, currently. I have led a plant HR team for 2.5 years, which has been an addition to the leadership exposure I experienced as a Head Boy and also lead student groups during my college years.

I identify with simplicity and integrity. I love taking up responsibilities. Change management, facilitation and training are my domains of interest. Personal interests include writing, reading fiction, photography and cricket.

Core differentiator: Contextualization of problems

I pride myself on my ability and commitment to understand and appreciate the complete context before suggesting a solution.

Biggest talent priority: Talent development

Talent development impacts retention, overall engagement and morale of the workforce. It also impacts talent acquisition as the best employer brands are the ones that focus on developing and retaining talent.

It can be effectively achieved by empowering and enabling direct supervisors and line managers to use different tools to analyze and develop people; using mechanisms for training that enable real-time performance support; and by providing adequate inputs to people to enable them to visualize their career path in the organization.

The one thing I will:

Change in HR: Processes-oriented approach with no innovation

I believe HR should not follow HR processes just because they have been in existence. We, as experts, need to innovate and un-learn and re-learn so that our processes have the maximum impact to the organization.

Retain in HR: Autonomy for management of ethical issues
