The intent to use analytics in measurement of change to give an edge to HR processes
Proficiency in Analytics important to show change

Jay Thakkar, Head of Compensation & Benefits and HR Operations at Aditya Birla Housing Finance Ltd

In his own words, this is what the ‘Are You In The List’ 2015 winner has to say about himself.

I lead Compensation and Benefits and HR Operations for Aditya Birla Housing Finance Limited. In my 5-years at Aditya Birla Group, I have been  a part of the strategic team in Compensation and Benefits as well as BUHR for various units. Prior to ABG, I worked for 2.5 years with Aon Hewitt as a Senior Consultant.

Core differentiator: I have approached every  initiative that I have undertaken with the premise that the output needs to bring measurable positive change. This in turn has enabled  me to connect with the business functions.

Biggest talent priority: Providing clarity on career paths

Providing clarity on career paths is a priority and I think this can be achieved by focusing on building dedicated programs for talent development that are linked to vertical and lateral employee movement.

The one thing that I will:

-Change in HR: Use HR to define leading indicators for business

I would partner with business  and create leading indicators which can help define the way business can be run. For example, I would measure L&D success  by enhanced productivity which can be used in manpower planning rather than measuring number of man-days.

-Retain in HR: Keep it a combination of science and art

My ideas to disrupt HR: I want to ensure that HR function also impacts the top and bottom line of an organization.  Akin to a balance sheet, companies should also have a talent sheet which captures the intrinsic value of its people. The time has come for the HR function to be recognized as a value creation center.
