Here is a snapshot of the interview:

What is the one leadership lesson you learned on the go as a People Leader?

I have learnt that, while delegating work to your team, the instructions should be objective oriented and crisp to the point.

One step that you are taking to develop a leadership culture in your organization?

I believe in grooming leaders by identifying their capabilities and motivations. I prefer to empower them with opportunities to lead and give them freedom to take decisions.

One thing that you consider as your strength and one thing that you would like to improve on?

My biggest strength is my 'ability to see the high-level picture and plan, then facilitate and execute the action'. Being an Introvert, I am not great at elaborate discussions or small talk – something I hope to improve on.

What should leaders do: create more leaders or create more followers and why?

As a leader, to make an organization successful, both are important. Followers ensure that the Leader's vision is achieved and in the process, new Leaders are created who can then take the organization to the next level.

One thing that makes you passionate about your work?

We recently launched India’s first electric three-wheeler that charges in five minutes. This could be a game changer for India and really spur the mass adoption of electric vehicles. The sense of achievement of touching lives of millions through your research and development drives me every day, every hour.

Three key learnings that you have picked up from your team.

  • Patience! Nothing good happens quickly
  • Learn when things don’t go your way
  • Ensure you have fun!

What sort of leader would your team say that you are?

I hope they see me as someone who identifies their strengths and qualities and places them in the roles that best suit them.
