People Matters TechHR India Night Fest: Embark on a musical odyssey with Papon

In a world that rewards people to be a part of the crowd, he chose to stand out. Even when fame did come to him, he didn’t let it get to his head, but pursued his love for music above everything else. For Indian playback singer Papon, who is set to go live for TechHR Night Fest, the ‘art of the possible’ has always meant staying true to his roots, while letting his music beat through a million hearts.

From the love ballad Jiyein Kyun in Dum Maaro Dum to the quirky and mischievous Kyon from Barfi, the singer-songwriter started his journey in Bollywood without a plan. And he is known to be among the few musicians able to shatter the proverbial barrier between East and Bollywood.

His journey has been unexpected and tumultuous, to say the least but there is a lot one can learn from him about standing out in the crowd, nurturing authenticity and innovation, breaking free from expectations, and loving your work on your own terms. From starting out with independent music, Papon popularised folk with a twist of contemporary, after which Bollywood happened. Now, as songs are being tailor-made for him, he is still selective and is focusing his energies on ghazals. For him, each project he has taken up has been in alignment to his abilities and what felt good to him.

Just before he goes onstage to spellbound you with his enchanting and energising melodies for TechHR Night Fest, he will be a part of fireside chat with Ester Martinez, CEO and Editor-In-Chief at People Matters, taking us through the journey of what he learnt from his father, ‘King Of Bihu’ Khagen Mahanta, how travelling plays a role in keeping him authentic as he explores the diverse cultures of India and why nature has a quintessential place in all his melodies.

So, join us for People Matters TechHR India on August 3 and 4 at Leela Ambience, Gurugram where Papon reveals how he retained his musical heritage, stayed true to his roots and built a career with authenticity, innovation and passion. Get ready to gain advice on balancing passion with paycheck as he decodes his musical journey.

And after that, you get to catch the musician live, as he transports you to his world singing some of his biggest hits till date. Register now before passes run out! And for all things TechHR, follw us on #TechHRIN
