Alex Honnold, an American rock climber best known for his free solo ascents of big walls was able to climb big mountains only after navigating through many complexities. He began his historic ropeless climb—a style known as “free soloing”—in the pink light of dawn at 5:32 a.m, unprepared but driven and determined. This experience made him realize the importance of practice and since this day he dedicated his life to practice. He gained more knowledge, trained for the climb at locations in the United States, China, Europe, and Morocco, until D Day when he became the first ever rope-free climber to climb El Capitan in Yosemite National Park. 

As the world of work presents itself as a huge mountain, with disruptions at every corner, business leaders and working professionals can take a page from Honnold’s life and learn from him how to reach the top with practice and simplicity. Just like climbing a mountain, the world of work and especially the future, is full of complexities. The future is uncertain and business leaders are struggling to visualize and foresee how their business and work is going to change.

"Complexity is the new reality!" declared Ester Martinez, CEO & Editor-in-Chief, People Matters as she kickstarted the People Matters TechHR India conference in The Leela, Ambience on 1st August. She further highlighted the two elements driving the complexity. 

“Velocity and Multiplicity are the two drivers of complexity,” shared Ester Martinez, CEO & Editor-in-Chief, People Matters. 

As things move around in the business ecosystem and new trends emerge, business and talent leaders have three options, they can either cling and/or fall, or they can climb. The three key elements that can help them boost their climb up these complexities include, knowledge, exposure and access. 

People Matters TechHR India 2019 covers all these three elements and is dedicated to helping business and talent leaders build the capacity to navigate through the complexity.
