Birlasoft names Varun Mittal Senior Director for HR shared services

Mittal will lead global HR shared services at Birlasoft, focusing on process excellence, service delivery and employee experience at scale.
Birlasoft has appointed Varun Mittal as Senior Director, Global HR Shared Services, strengthening its leadership bench as the IT services firm sharpens focus on scalable people operations.
Mittal will oversee end-to-end HR shared services across Birlasoft’s global footprint, with a mandate to enhance service delivery, drive process excellence and improve employee experience.
The appointment signals a growing emphasis among technology firms on building more efficient and technology-enabled HR models as workforces expand across geographies.
In his new role, Mittal will play a central part in supporting Birlasoft’s talent priorities through streamlined and innovative HR practices, the company said.
Mittal brings experience spanning HR operations, shared services and strategic HR transformation. His career has cut across multiple industries and international contexts, with a track record in building operational frameworks and driving continuous improvement in HR service delivery.
Before joining Birlasoft, he held leadership positions in global HR shared services and operational roles, where he led initiatives aimed at simplifying HR processes, strengthening cross-functional collaboration and expanding the use of digital tools in people services.
Birlasoft’s leadership said Mittal’s combination of strategic perspective and execution capability would support the organisation’s commitment to delivering high-impact HR services at scale.
Mittal holds professional credentials in HR and business management and has been involved in workforce transformation and digital HR enablement initiatives across distributed teams.
He will report to senior leadership as part of Birlasoft’s global HR leadership team.
The move comes as enterprises increasingly treat HR shared services as a strategic lever — not just a back-office function — particularly in areas such as employee experience, operational agility and capability building in a competitive talent market.
