The Kotak Mahindra Bank subsidiary names a long-serving group HR leader to steer people and culture as it scales its lending business.

Kotak Mahindra Prime Ltd (KMPL), the vehicle and property finance arm of Kotak Mahindra Bank, has appointed Sandeep Rath as its new Head – Human Resources, strengthening its leadership team as the company expands its retail lending footprint.

Announcing the move on LinkedIn, Rath said he was “excited to step into the role of Head – HR at KMPL”, describing the company as holding “a special place in the Kotak journey—where it all began”. He added that he looked forward to partnering with leaders and teams to enable growth through people.

Rath will oversee the company’s people and culture agenda and lead all HR functions across the organisation. The appointment comes at a time when non-banking finance companies are sharpening their focus on talent, productivity and organisational resilience amid intensifying competition and regulatory scrutiny.

The leader brings more than 13 years of experience across talent management, organisational development and HR transformation. Before joining KMPL, he held successive leadership roles at Kotak Mahindra Bank, serving as Vice President, Senior Vice President and HR Lead, where he helped design and scale people strategies for large corporate and institutional lending businesses.

His earlier career includes senior HR roles at ICICI Bank and L&T Financial Services. Across these organisations, Rath worked on workforce planning, leadership development and large-scale restructuring and integration initiatives, supporting business growth across complex operating environments.

He holds an MBA in Human Resources (PGDHRM) from the Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon.

KMPL, a wholly owned subsidiary of Kotak Mahindra Bank, has been a key player in India’s vehicle finance market since 1996. The company entered two-wheeler financing in 2018 and expanded into loans against property in 2022. It operates through a network of 134 branches across 24 states, supported by dealer and partner channels.
