Luminous Power Technologies appoints Vivek Abrol as MD & CEO

Vivek Abrol takes charge at Luminous as Preeti Bajaj moves to Schneider Electric in a global leadership role.
Luminous Power Technologies has appointed Vivek Abrol as its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective January 19, 2026, as the consumer energy company prepares for its next phase of growth and leadership transition.
The appointment follows the decision of Preeti Bajaj, the outgoing MD and CEO, to move to parent company Schneider Electric, where she will take on the role of Executive Vice President and lead its Global Home Solutions Division, the company said.
Abrol will be responsible for driving profitable growth across Luminous’ portfolio, strengthening its core inverter and battery businesses, and accelerating the expansion of solar and sustainable energy solutions. The company said his mandate includes advancing Luminous’ evolution into an integrated consumer energy fulfilment platform, with a focus on innovation, digital transformation and operational excellence.
Commenting on the transition, Bajaj said, “It has been a privilege to lead Luminous Power Technologies through a phase of strong growth and transformation. I’m incredibly proud of the team and the progress we have made together. Today, the company is well-positioned for its next chapter of growth.”
She added that the company was confident Abrol would “build on this strong foundation, elevate our focus on long-term value creation, and strengthen our position as India’s leading consumer energy fulfillment company.”
Abrol said he was “honored to take on the responsibility of leading Luminous Power Technologies,” noting that India’s energy landscape was at a pivotal moment as demand rises for cleaner, more reliable and technology-enabled solutions. “As reliability, sustainability, and technology increasingly shape how energy is generated, stored, and consumed in homes and businesses, our focus will be on delivering innovative energy solutions that meet their evolving needs,” he said.
Abrol brings over 25 years of leadership experience, including a decade as chief executive across consumer-facing businesses. He began his career at ITC Ltd, where he spent 16 years in senior leadership roles across FMCG businesses. He later served as business head and CEO at companies including Pidilite Industries and RR Kabel, managing end-to-end operations across diverse sectors.
Most recently, Abrol was CEO of RR Kabel’s Consumer Electricals (FMEG) business, where the company said he led a period of rapid expansion, scaling the business fivefold over four-and-a-half years. He also played a role in merger and acquisition activity and the execution of a public listing during his tenure.
Under Bajaj’s leadership, Luminous expanded its solar portfolio, accelerated the adoption of sustainable energy solutions and strengthened its position as a fast-moving energy goods brand, the company said.
Founded more than three decades ago, Luminous Power Technologies operates across inverters, batteries and residential solar solutions, with manufacturing facilities and a wide distribution network in India and overseas. The leadership change comes as demand for decentralised and clean energy solutions continues to rise across residential and small business segments.
