Max Fashion names Sumit Chandna as CEO

Landmark Group’s Max Fashion appoints Sumit Chandna as chief executive as the company expands store footprint and private-label strategy.

Landmark Group’s Max Fashion has appointed Sumit Chandna as chief executive officer of Max at Lifestyle International Pvt Ltd, the company said in a statement.


Chandna previously served as deputy chief executive at Max. He has worked at Bata, Aditya Birla Retail, Hypercity and Shoppers Stop in senior leadership roles.


“I am truly honoured to take on the role of CEO at Max. Over the past few years, our team has worked tirelessly to transform the brand, and I look forward to continuing this journey of growth, innovation and delivering exceptional experiences to our customers across India,” Chandna said in a statement released by the company.


Max operates more than 520 stores in over 200 cities in India. The company said it will continue to expand in non-metro and regional markets.


Last week, Max opened a 13,000-square-foot flagship ID store at Phoenix Marketcity in Bengaluru. The company said the store was designed to enhance the shopping experience while maintaining its focus on value fashion.


Max is part of Landmark Group’s fashion portfolio, which operates more than 870 stores in nearly 20 countries. The company said India is a key market for its retail business.


Media reports revealed that Max has been investing in omnichannel capabilities and e-commerce expansion alongside store growth. The company has also introduced culture-led marketing programmes and frequent product launches.


Meanwhile, Mint reported that Max is focusing on strengthening private-label development to improve margins while offering value-driven fashion.
