Nissin appoints Gautam Sharma as India MD

Japanese foods firm Nissin Foods, maker of Top Ramen noodles, has appointed Gautam Sharma, former Wrigley India CEO, as the managing director of its Indian arm Indo Nissin. Sharma confirmed the move to ET. He is the first non-Japanese MD of Indo Nissin. Sharma, 47, succeeds Yuji Tabeta, who has been heading the company since 2007. Tabeta has returned to Nissin, Japan, in a senior role. An alumnus of IIM-Ahmedabad, Sharma has worked with consumer goods firms such as GlaxoSmithKline, Perfetti van Melle, Gillette and Wrigley. He quit Wrigley, the second biggest confectionery firm in the country following Perfetti van Melle, in 2012, after a four-year stint. He had been running a consultancy of his own for a year before joining Indo Nissin.
