NITI Aayog gets BVR Subrahmanyam as new CEO

NITI Aayog gets BVR Subrahmanyam as new CEO

Former Union Commerce Secretary and retired bureaucrat BVR Subrahmanyam has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Niti Aayog. He succeeded Parameswaran Iyer, who was appointed NITI Aayog’s CEO in July 2022.

Subrahmanyam’s appointment to the post has been approved by the Cabinet Committee on Appointments. His appointment to the post will be effective for two years from the date of assumption of the charge of the post.

Outgoing CEO lyer has now been appointed as the Executive Director of World Bank. He replaced Rajesh Khullar, a 1988 batch Indian Administrative Service officer.

Iyer, a 1981-batch IAS officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, has worked with both the public and private sectors. He was Secretary to the Government of India in the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation in New Delhi during 2016–20.

In addition to the NITI Aayog hiring, the government also appointed Rajesh Rai as Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of ITI Limited, a PSU under the Department of Telecommunications (DoT).
