Google India appoints former Niti Aayog official Archana Gulati as head of public policy

Google has appointed Archana Gulati, a former joint secretary at Niti Aayog, as the head of public policy in India, according to various media reports.

Gulati was looking after digital communications policy matters at the top government think tank until March 2021.

From May 2017 to August 2019, she served as senior deputy director general, and officer on special duty with India’s telecom secretary, as per her LinkedIn profile.

Prior to that, between 2014 and 2016, she headed the combinations division at Competition Commission of India and advised the commission on competition issues arising from mergers and acquisitions.

A retired Indian Civil Services officer of the 1989 batch, Gulati is skilled in merger control, telecom policy and regulation, competition policy and regulation, administration, project finance, implementation and evaluation of ICTs /telecommunications related developmental projects.
