Aditya Birla Group has announced the appointment of Shobha Ratna Tanniru as the new Chief Human Resources Officer and Senior Executive of its fashion and retail subsidiary, effective from December 15, 2023.

Shobha will assume responsibilities from the current CHRO and Senior Management Personnel of the subsidiary, Chandrashekhar Chavan, as he moves on to a new role within the group after February 15, 2024.

In her new role, Shobha brings over 28 years of HR expertise in talent and leadership management. Her proficiency in core HR processes, focusing on talent and culture, will further support the growth of the fashion retail subsidiary. She joined the Aditya Birla Group in 2008 and currently holds the position of Chief Operations Officer and Head of HR and Training at Aditya Birla Sun Life Insurance, an insurance subsidiary of the group.

In her previous roles, Shobha worked with Hindustan Unilever Ltd for over 12 years as an Organizational Development Manager. She also served Aditya Birla Management Corporation Limited as a Vice President for over five years.

The official announcement regarding CHRO Chavan’s movement within the Aditya Birla Group is yet to be made. He has held this position since 2012 and has been instrumental in leading the HR function, encompassing HR risk mitigation, leadership development, engagement, large-scale change management, inclusion initiatives, due diligence, and post-merger integration. Prior to this role, he was the Head of HR for the group’s Cement company, Ultratech Cement. He has been associated with the group since 1996, taking over key leadership roles across the group’s subsidiaries, including AB Sun Life Insurance, Hindalco Industries Limited, and Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd.
