American e-commerce giant is investigating allegations against some of its employees that are said to sold confidential data to third-party companies in exchange for money.  

Some of the employees are allegedly selling information on sales and searches outside of the company reported NDTV.  According to the report,  these data are likely to help the sellers, and from the data, they will place their products in such a manner which will give them priority in search results and good chances of attracting the customers. 

According to the media report, the internal probe started in May when the company was informed to such instances of this taking place in China, where it is said to be most prevalent. 

One of the key representatives from the company confirmed that the organization is investigating the claims, and mentioned that the tactics would run afoul of its policy and it'll take strict action against employees and merchants who broke these rules.

Amazon released a statement which says, "We have zero tolerance for abuse of our systems, and if we find bad actors who have engaged in this behavior, we will take swift action against them, including terminating their selling accounts, deleting reviews, withholding funds, and taking legal action."
