TCS asks Delhi employees to shift to Noida, Gurugram offices amid student protests

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has temporarily asked employees based at its central Delhi campus to work from its Noida or Gurugram offices, or apply for a work-from-office (WFO) exception, following disruptions caused by student protests in the national capital.

According to an internal advisory reviewed by Moneycontrol, the directive applies to associates assigned to the company's PTI Building campus in Delhi for July 23 and 24. The measure is intended to ensure business continuity while employees navigate disruptions around the office location.

Temporary workplace advisory issued for Delhi campus

The advisory instructs affected employees to either report to the company's offices in Noida or Gurugram. Employees who are unable to travel to either location have been asked to raise a WFO exception under the "Calamity Exigency" category.

The temporary arrangement comes as student protests around Jantar Mantar and parts of central Delhi have affected normal movement in the area. According to Moneycontrol, the demonstrations are linked to allegations surrounding the NEET paper leak.

Moneycontrol reported that it has reached out to TCS for comment and will update its report upon receiving a response.

Advisory does not alter broader WFO policy

The internal communication does not indicate any wider change to the company's workplace policy. Based on Moneycontrol's report, the advisory is limited to employees attached to the Delhi campus and is applicable only for the two-day period.

Key details from the advisory include:

• Employees assigned to the Delhi PTI Building campus have been advised to work from Noida or Gurugram offices.

Work-from-office norms remain unchanged

The temporary advisory comes against the backdrop of TCS' stricter return-to-office approach.

The company recently revised its bonus policy by linking performance payouts to employees' compliance with work-from-office requirements. Employees are currently expected to work from the office on all five weekdays, with exceptions available only under specified circumstances.

TCS also maintains one of the largest office networks in the National Capital Region, with delivery centres in Noida and Gurugram, alongside its Delhi facility. The alternate locations enabled the company to activate contingency arrangements without announcing wider operational changes.
