Zoho shifts employees to remote work for two weeks from March 16

Zoho asks most employees to work remotely for two weeks from March 16, citing operational concerns and the need to minimise commuting.
Software company Zoho Corporation has asked most of its employees to work from home for two weeks starting March 16, citing operational considerations and the need to minimise employee commuting.
The Chennai-based technology firm said the temporary measure would apply to all staff except those involved in business-critical operations, according to a company communication cited by DT Next.
Employees working in essential operational teams have been asked to coordinate with their managers regarding their work-from-office schedules during the period.
Limited office operations
Zoho said a limited number of employees may still be required to work from company offices depending on operational requirements.
For those required to be physically present, the company noted that office cafeterias would operate with a limited menu, reflecting operational constraints affecting workplace services.
The company added that further updates would be communicated to employees depending on how the situation develops.
Temporary shift to remote work
The two-week remote work arrangement reflects a precautionary approach by the company as it adjusts office operations during the current situation.
By encouraging employees to work remotely, Zoho said it aims to reduce daily commuting and minimise operational disruptions while ensuring business continuity.
Zoho has not disclosed how many employees will be affected by the temporary policy.
A major technology employer
Founded in 1996 by Sridhar Vembu and Tony Thomas, Zoho has grown into one of India’s largest privately held software companies.
The firm develops a wide range of cloud-based business applications covering areas such as customer relationship management, workplace collaboration, accounting and enterprise software.
According to Reuters, Zoho has expanded rapidly in recent years while maintaining a largely self-funded business model, positioning itself as a significant competitor to global enterprise software providers.
Flexible work models continue
Technology companies across India have increasingly adopted hybrid and flexible work arrangements in response to operational disruptions and changing workforce expectations.
Temporary remote work policies allow companies to maintain productivity while adapting to logistical challenges affecting office infrastructure or employee commuting.
Zoho said it will monitor the situation and provide further guidance to employees as necessary.
For now, the company’s temporary shift to remote work signals a cautious operational adjustment rather than a permanent change in workplace policy.
