Infrastructure companies in hunt for women directors

Several infrastructure companies, including blue-chips like Larsen & Toubro, are scouting for a lady independent director to meet Sebi stipulation as they do not have women on top positions who can be elevated as directors. In an attempt to encourage diversity, the Securities & Exchange Boardof India has made it mandatory for all listed companies to have at least one woman director. The regulator had extended the deadline for this to April 1, 2015, from October 1, 2014, as many companies were unable to comply with this requirement.
