Five months after leaving Lazard, the former chairman of Lazard India, K Balakrishnan, launched his boutique M&A advisory firm, Kriscore Financial Advisors, this Dussehra, ET reported.
Balakrishnan said he will wait for a few months before raising a private equity fund. Until then, he and his five-member team, which operates out of Mumbai's financial hub of BKC, will look for opportunities in the M&A space. Kriscore is set to start operations from the second half of November.
Bala, as Balakrishnan in popularly known, moved to Lazard in 2004 and his mandate was to re-establish the business from scratch. His strategy of not going for mandates that did not make business sense paid off — his team closed 50 transactions in nine years, including Telecom Malaysia's stake sale to Spice Telecom, the report added.
