L&T names a new HR head as Yogi Sriram retires

L&T names a new HR head as Yogi Sriram retires

Yogi Sriram (Yogi for everyone), Senior Vice President – Corporate Human Resources and Member of the Executive Committee, Larsen & Toubro Limited has superannuated from the services of the company effective from 1st April 2020, after an illustrious career of 43 years in HR. 

Yogi shared with People Matters about his retirement and L&T's latest appointment in a special note. He wrote, "Pursuant to my superannuation, Dr. C Jayakumar (referred to as CJK) has been appointed by L&T as Vice President & Head (Corporate Human Resources)." 

One of the senior most HR persons in the country in service, Yogi headed the Group HR function in L&T for 8 years in his last role. All the signature practices in HR in Leadership, Developmental Centers, performance management system called FAIR etc were implemented under the Leadership of Yogi.

He has spent around 16 years in two stints in Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T), a USD 21 billion, technology, engineering, construction, manufacturing, IT, Engineering Services and financial services conglomerate, with global operations. He was instrumental in setting up and leading L&Ts world class Institute of Project Management. Prior to joining L&T, he was in an HR leadership position in ABB and a high potential in NTPC. He was Director, HR for British Petroleum for 41 countries and CHRO for Indian Hotels Company Ltd.  immediately before joining L&T.

Now as Yogi moves ahead in his professional journey, Dr. C Jayakumar (referred to as CJK) who has worked with L&T for 31 years will spearhead the people agenda for the company. CJK has worked in various roles in HR, having joined L&T 31 years ago as an Industrial Relations Supervisor, rising now to the position of VP. He has been in multiple locations in India and has also served in the Middle East. 

Having completed his Graduation in Economics, from the University of Madras, CJK completed his PG (Hons) Diploma in PM & IR from the Madras School of Social Work. He holds a Masters’ degree in Economics, MLS and M Phil in Labour Studies from Madurai Kamaraj University. He also holds a degree in Law (LLB) from Bangalore University and has completed an Executive Diploma in HRM - XLRI Jamshedpur before earning a Doctorate degree from Madras School of Social Work in Leadership.

Yogi might have retired from his role as the HR head but he continues to stay with the company and guide them.

He shared, "I will continue to work as an Advisor Group HR to CEO & MD - L&T effective April 2, 2020."

His experience and expertize are all the more required in this time of crisis when L&T has newer people and business challenges posed by COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent national lockdown.
