POWERGRID, KEC International Collaborate for Capacity Building Program

POWERGRID and KEC International Ltd. signed an MOU for capacity building in the field of Transmission Line Construction. Training was imparted to first batch of 19 trainees in Transmission Line Erection at KEC Training Centre at Butibori, Nagpur and course completion certificates were issued by Sh. D K Valecha, ED(WR-I), POWERGRID in the presence of Sh. V M Kaul, Director(Personnel), POWERGRID & Sh. R D Chandak, MD, KEC Internaional Ltd.

POWERGRID and KEC International Ltd. signed an MOU for capacity building in the field of Transmission Line Construction. Training was imparted to first batch of 19 trainees in Transmission Line Erection at KEC Training Centre at Butibori, Nagpur and course completion certificates were issued by Sh. D K Valecha, ED(WR-I), POWERGRID in the presence of Sh. V M Kaul, Director(Personnel), POWERGRID & Sh. R D Chandak, MD, KEC Internaional Ltd.

POWERGRID has taken up this capacity building initiative for skill development in the country for power transmission projects with the help of Transmission Line construction contractors under Public Private Partnership(PPP) mode. Such training will mitigate the shortage of skilled manpower beside enhancing the employability of the trained persons and improving the quality of construction with safety without cost & time overrun. For achieving the ambitious targets of Indian Power Sector within the limited time schedules, augmenting the power transmission projects with quality and safety, , availability of adequately trained and skilled manpower in the areas of Power Transmission Tower Erection and Stringing is very much essential as huge shortage in these areas has been estimated.

V M Kaul, Director(Pers.), POWERGRID emphasized the importance of availability of skilled workers for infrastructure development particularly in the Transmission Line Construction for maintaining the economic growth of country. He informed that there is requirement of 60,000 skilled workers for construction of power transmission sector during current Five Year Plan. He applauded the efforts of KEC in imparting the training in this area.

R D Chandak, MD, KEC Internaional Ltd commended the participants for opting such professional training that leads to a forward step towards nation building. He maintained that in near future KEC Training Centre will take up many other social causes and impart training.

Chetan Varma, GM (HRD), CC, A K Sinha, GM (Proj-I), V K Khare, GM(O&M), J. James, GM(Proj.-II), A Ommen, AGM (F&A), and JA Krishna, DGM(HR) were among others present on the occasion.
