Samiran Chakraborty quits Standard Chartered to join Citibank1

Citibank has been without a chief India economist after Rohini Malkani quit the bank in April this year. At Standard Chartered, Chakraborty’s deputy Anubhuti Sahay will likely take over.
Samiran Chakraborty, an economist with Standard Chartered Plc, has quit to join rival Citibank NA after serving six years as head of South Asia macro research at the British lender. A Standard Chartered spokesman and Chakraborty confirmed the move. Chakraborty, a Delhi School of Economics (DSE) alumnus, will likely join Citibank after serving a three-month ‘gardening leave.’ Citibank has been without a chief India economist after Rohini Malkani quit the bank in April this year. At Standard Chartered, Chakraborty’s deputy Anubhuti Sahay will likely take over.
