Chennai: Top global technology majors like Google and Microsoft visiting IIT-Madras will begin headhunting by midnight on Monday in a high-stakes placement event dubbed Graveyard Session in college-yard parlance.
It is an arrangement by the premier institute to skim off the brightest computer scientists in the batch sought by mostly US and Europe based technology companies. It also serves to hold these students from grabbing more than one offer and in turn diminishing the prospects of others in line for jobs.
This is the third graveyard session curated by Prof. Babu Viswanathan, Advisor, Training and Placements, who started the midnight recruitment programme at IIT-Madras as a novel attempt for the 2013-14 batch.
