Infosys plan to re-align staff across projects draws mixed response

India’s second-largest software services firm Infosys Ltd plans to re-deploy many of its experienced engineers evenly across its 23,000 current projects and some new ventures instead of concentrating them in a few projects in a bid to cut costs and become more profitable. Infosys’s efforts come at a time when it and other large information technology (IT) services firms across India are working hard to retain their profit margins which have come under pressure with a lot of new business being gained at lower rates. The push towards automation is also promoted by this.
