2-day bank strike in January

Employee unions of PSU banks have decided to strike for two days in January 2014 to protest over minimal salary increase and delays in wage settlement. While bank staffs have been demanding 30 per cent increase in wages, the actual hike given to them in the last revision in 2007 was approximately 17 per cent. The employee unions believe that the per employee productivity has steadily increases and wages and salaries have been unable to keep pace with their increased workload.
