Coal strike called off

Coal workers called off their nationwide strike on Wednesday night, 7th January, 2015, after a marathon meeting with coal minister, Piyush Goyal. The minister intervened after talks between the unions and bureaucrats failed. The Center will set up a panel to look into the demands and claims of worker unions, comprising a senior coal ministry official and representatives from Coal India and the unions.
