Fire breaks out at HPCL-Mittal refinery in Bhatinda

A fire broke out at HPCL Mittal Energy Ltd’s (HMEL) Bhatinda refinery on Friday morning at 6.30 am. In a statement, the company said there was a fire in the vacuum gas oil treating unit which was immediately shut down. “The situation is under control and there are no casualties or injuries of any kind,” the statement added. The balance units at the refinery are operating, the company said. “Probe has been initiated to understand the cause of the fire. Corrective steps and action will follow after a root-cause analysis is complete,” the Company added in its statement.
