As the ride-hailing service company, GO-JEK looks to expand its presence across SouthEast Asia, it also works on strengthening its team.
It plans to hire 200 engineers in Bengaluru to support its expanding portfolio of products in food delivery, taxi-sharing, logistics and digital payments among others.
The Indonesia-based company will be hiring for key roles across various product verticals including Data Scientists, Full-stack engineers, Data Engineers, Product Managers, UI/UX designers and Backend Engineers.
Besides taking care of the current portfolio of 18 products that have a reported reach of more than 70 Mn users in Indonesia, the team will also play a key role in strategizing for new products and services for the company.
It was in November 2016 that GO-JEK made its way in the Indian market. Backed by Google and Tencent, the company established an engineering facility in Bengaluru after acquiring four Indian companies, including Pune-based mobile application developer Leftshift, Bengaluru-based startup Pianta, C42 Engineering and CodeIgnition.
In September it was reported that GO-JEK is in talks to raise at least $2 Bn to fuel its SEA expansion and a few days back its also announced its plans to enter the Singapore market.
In Singapore, Grab, which bought Uber Technologies Inc's business in the region will be a key competitor for GO-JEK. Currently, Go-Jek remains in discussions with ComfortDelGro, Singapore’s taxi operator which previously had an agreement with Uber, but it may also launch its own private car service to rival Grab directly.
