Aditya Birla Group’s Head HR Lifestyle Business joins SMG as Head Group HR

HR veteran Paras Kaushik has been appointed as Head of Group Human Resources by Samvardhan Motherson Group (SMG). In his new role, he would be closely working with Vice-Chairman Laksh Vaaman Sehgal on the Group HR Agenda.

Before joining SMG, Kaushik was heading HR Lifestyle Business (Louis Philippe, Van Heusen, Allen Solly, Peter England, Simon Carter) of Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd. At ABG he was responsible for end-to-end HR for an employee base of 21,000 in firm’s Retail Stores, Manufacturing Units and Corporate Office.

Kaushik joined ABG in 2002 as Management Trainee and then in a very short period of time, he grew in the company. From becoming the Manager L&D, Hindalco in 2003, then Head of Aditya Birla Group Leadership Programs, Group HR in 2005 to moving to the Philippines and heading HR - Aditya Birla Minacs in 2007, Kaushik’s journey in ABG has been quite enriching.

Kaushik reminisces his initial days in ABG and says, “I joined Aditya Birla Group as a Management Trainee in 2002 and was handpicked for 8 assignments in 17 years. These assignments ranged from global to local, start-up to mature, manufacturing to retail and listed to not-for-profit.”

From the very beginning, Kaushik got a hand on experience of working for diverse businesses and that helped me in his entire journey.

Now as he moves on from ABG and joins SMG, he has new opportunities to explore. All the years of experience and knowledge will help Kaushik in solving the talent challenges for SMG and designing talent strategies that help drive business for the firm.

SMG is one of the leading suppliers to the automotive industry globally.  While this is a new industry for Kaushik, we know that diversity of businesses has never stopped him before.

SMG has over 270 facilities across 41 countries and employs over 135,000 professionals worldwide. The Group is ranked 23rd among global automotive suppliers by Automotive News. Group’s Vision is “To be a Globally Preferred Solutions Provider”.

Kaushik will now play a critical role in designing talent strategies and processes that help SMG achieve this vision. What new talent initiatives he introduces and how he revamps the current ones is to look forward to.
