In an email to employees, Flipkart veteran Anil Goteti shares his decision to move on from the company. However, he will act as an advisor and remain with the company till November. He reports to Flipkart Group CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy.

Goteti started his career in 2012 as a director of the books and eBooks segment. Currently, he leads customer growth and monetization as senior vice president. In the past, he has also led the Bengaluru-based homegrown e-tailer’s mobiles category, furniture business as well as the Flipkart 2Gud marketplace for refurbished goods.

In his most recent role, he was responsible for acquiring new customers, growing the transacting base, driving its loyalty program and advertisements.

“Goteti has played a pivotal role in turning around and scaling up the marketplace business and helped deliver consistent growth… also played a key role in our fundraising efforts during his marketplace role,” Krishnamurthy wrote in the email shared with all employees. 

“With Anil’s move, we will be transitioning his responsibilities to Vikas Gupta and Prakash Sikaria,” he further added.

Gupta will continue to lead Marketing, Research & Insights, Customer Programs and Big Billion Day for the Walmart-owned company. Sikaria will take on the leadership of the Loyalty and Supercoins programs, in addition to driving Ads and Video.

These changes will come into effect immediately, and Vikas and Prakash will both report to Krishnamurthy. 

In recent months, there have been several changes in Flipkart's leadership team. Eversince Walmart led a $1.2 billion investment in Flipkart's commerce business, valuing it at $24.9 billion, many changes have been observed. 

In May, Flipkart elevated five executives -- Manish Kumar, Anand Laxminarayan, Ranjeet D, Ravish Kumar Sinha and Ravi Iyer – to senior vice presidents. There are around 14 SVPs in Flipkart who report directly to Krishnamurthy.

In December, Flipkart's head of fashion and SVP Rishi Vasudev quit to join Lifestyle International as CEO. A few months back, Flipkart Group CFO Emily McNeal, who came on board as part of Walmart’s acquisition of the Indian e-commerce firm, also resigned from the company.

 Amid the lockdown the lockdown and the ongoing pandemic the e-commerce sector has experienced a boom in demand as consumers switch to online platforms to order almost everything from essentials to semi essentials. However, with the space being so competitive, Flipkart has many challenges to overcome. How Gupta and Sikaria lead the marketplace that has before flourished under Goteti's guidance will be to look forward to.
