Geetika Mehta joins Hershey as Managing Director India

After 18 years, Geetika Mehta leaves Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL) to join The Hershey Company as Managing Director India.

In a LinkedIn post Geetika Mehta wrote, "After 18 enriching years, I am leaving Unilever. I am so grateful to unilever for all the amazing opportunities and experiences which have shaped me. I have been fortunate to work with the most insightful mentors, amazing colleagues and closest friends!"

She also mentioned about her move to Hershey India and said, "I am super excited and energised about this new adventure."

Geetika joins as the The Hershey Company's Managing Director, India, effective 1st July 2021. She comes with about two decades of experience and has worked with Uniliver for the longest time.  She has held leadership roles in the packaged consumer goods industry and food businesses working across categories including soups, noodles, spice mixes amongst others.

In her most recent role, she was General Manager for the home and hygiene business at Hindustan Unilever Ltd. In the role she has delivered market-beating results on both top and bottom line and set up the business for sustained growth. She has also spearheaded the laundry detergents category for Unilever in markets like South Asia, Thailand, Brazil and South Africa.

At Hershey, Geetika replaces Herjit Bhalla, vice president, India and AEMEA at The Hershey Company who was recently promoted to the global role. Geetika will report to Herjit.

Speaking on the appointment Herjit said, "The Indian market is of significant importance to us and is critical to our long-term growth plans. In our endeavor to further strengthen the leadership and drive resilient growth and execution, we are delighted to have Geetika onboard."

"My central focus will be on the next phase of growth in developing a strong, multi-category play while strengthening positions across key growth segments. I look forward to script a strong growth story in India with the immensely talented team here," said Geetika. 

With a proven track record of building and nurturing small businesses and leading growth for large businesses and driving profitability and turnaround, Geetika's key responsibility be to lead the Hershey India team into the next phase of growth, scale and evolution.
