IFFCO Tokio General Insurance appoints CEO & MD India

Anamika Roy Rashtrawar will be the first woman MD & CEO of a large private sector general insurance company in India.

Anamika Roy Rashtrawar takes over from Warendra Sinha, who retired from the company after leading IFFCO Tokio successfully for the last three years.

Rashtrawar had joined IFFCO Tokio General Insurance as a whole-time director on 1st June 2018. She led the company’s business transformation project and expanded the company’s operations in tier 2, 3, 4 towns. She is a firm believer in building distribution network for increasing penetration of general insurance and simplification of business processes to make Insurance services simple for the customer.

Speaking on the appointment Dr U. S. Awasthi, MD, IFFCO, said, “She is a dynamic woman leader who has been on the board of the company and have successfully led many businesses in the company especially the digitalization projects. I am confident that Rashtrawar will take the company to the next level of performance in terms of customer service, sustained growth and profitability.”  

"I am confident that she will continue building the company and position IFFCO Tokio as the leading general insurer in the Indian market," added Satoru Komiya, President and Group CEO, Tokio Marine Holdings.

Rashtrawar has over three decades of experience in the industry and has served in the both public and private sector general insurance companies. She shared her excitement for a new beginning.

"I am delighted to lead IFFCO Tokio, especially as the company enters the 20th year of operations in India," said Rashtrawar.

Like many sectors the general insurance sector has also been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Business leaders many challenges on the path. On one side they have to ensure business continuity on the other they have to take care of their talent needs, their physical, mental and financial well-being. In this tough time of crisis leaders are emphasising on pillars of respect and trust to ensure a good employee experience even in times of crisis.

Rashtrawar believes that IFFCO Tokio with a very strong brand which resonates with trust is well-positioned to take on the emerging challenges in the insurance industry in India. "As it has the best team and excellent business partners and loyal clients. It is a tough time for any insurance company but nothing is permanent and this too shall pass …," she added.

Navigating through this phase of crisis effectively would be the top most priority for Rashtrawar. How she spearheads the team and business towards a better future in these times of uncertainty is to look forward to.
