IndiGo's Chief Planning Officer steps down

Micheal Swiatek, who joined IndiGo to work on its international expansion has stepped down from his role, citing personal reasons. He has not only left the company but is also leaving the country.

Another Senior Executive, Cindi Szadokiersky, who was working as Vice President (airports) quit the airlines in December 2018.

Two major exits in a span of four to five months are not in favor of Indigo's international expansion plans.

The airline has been aggressively hiring and working on building resources to successfully fulfill its international ambitions. The carrier has more than 200 planes and a pilot strength of over 3,000, which includes over 1,200 commanders, more than 50 of whom are expats. And recently, in February they started their search for over 100 pilots to treble the number of expat pilots at IndiGo. In fact, the airline has also attracted and poached many pilots from cash strapped Jet Airways. This year, it plans to take delivery of 48 planes this year of the Airbus A320neo family, including the stretched 20-25 A321 Planes, which it plans to deploy on the medium-haul international routes.

Now, IndiGo which has already hired about 130 expatriate pilots from all over the world is planning to take that count to 160 by June 2019.

However, these senior exits act as minor glitches in their plan. How IndiGo makes up for these glitches and who replaces talents like Swiatek and Szadokiersky will determine the future of international business for IndiGo.
