JSW Motors appoints Rajan Sharma to lead strategy as it builds leadership and accelerates plans for its passenger vehicle market entry.

JSW Motors has appointed Rajan Sharma as Head of Strategy and Planning, as the Sajjan Jindal-led group accelerates preparations for its entry into India’s passenger vehicle market, Autocar Professional reported.

Sharma joins the company with experience across Tata Motors, MG Motor India and Hyundai Motor India, where he worked on strategy and sales planning. His appointment comes at a critical stage as JSW Motors moves from planning to execution in building its automotive business.

“The emergence of a new large Indian automotive brand is a rare moment for the industry,” Sharma said in a LinkedIn post announcing his appointment. He added that India’s automotive sector, long shaped by legacy manufacturers, is now entering a new phase driven by electric mobility and next-generation ecosystems.

JSW Motors is simultaneously putting in place a full senior leadership team across key functions, signalling a structured push into the market. The leadership build-out spans commercial operations, marketing, dealer development, product planning, engineering, projects and human resources.

At the centre of this effort is Chief Executive Officer Ranjan Nayak, who is leading the company’s strategy, partnerships and organisational build-out. The structure reflects the company’s intent to create end-to-end execution capability across product development, manufacturing, retail and customer support.

Key appointments include Amit Jain as Chief Commercial Officer, Ravindra Jain as Chief Marketing Officer, Pankaj Parkar heading dealer development, and Anuj Tyagi leading aftersales. On the product and engineering side, Rakshit Bisaria oversees product planning, while Sachin Wagh leads engineering and R&D. Amarjeet Singh Dahiya heads project execution, and Rupam Singh serves as Chief Human Resources Officer.

According to Autocar Professional, the company is evaluating a portfolio of electrified SUVs, including models based on global platforms, as part of its potential product pipeline. However, specific product details remain undisclosed.

Industry sources indicate that production could begin by the last quarter of the year, with vehicles expected to reach the market by 2027. The company is also likely to launch a distinct automotive brand identity separate from the broader JSW Group.

The appointment of Sharma underscores the importance of strategic planning as JSW Motors enters a capital-intensive, highly competitive market. With leadership roles now largely in place, the company is moving into the next phase of execution—covering product development, dealer network creation and brand positioning ahead of its anticipated Diwali 2026 entry.
