Myntra loses another senior executive to Google

Following the series of several resignations at Myntra, Sharath Bulusu, Senior Vice-President at the firm has also stepped down from his role, as per the latest report

Bulusu is a former Google executive who as per the speculation is joining back the company as Product Management Director. He had joined Myntra in 2016 and was a core part of Myntra's product team, especially after its CPO Ambarish Kenghe left last year. Bulusu has previously also worked as Chief Product Officer at London-based HouseTrip.

Bulusu is now following the footsteps of his former colleague Kenghe and joining Google.

In the past few months, Myntra has witnessed many exits, including its former CEO Ananth Narayanan. A lot has been happening at the firm. After Flipkart co-founder Binny Bansal's exit in November last year, Myntra-Jabong came under Flipkart group CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy. The current scenario is that Amar Nagaram, who is now heading Myntra-Jabong, reports to Flipkart group's fashion head Rishi Vasudev.

The leadership at the firm has been quite unstable amidst these structural changes. However, the firm continues to try striking a balance and ensuring work flows smoothly amidst the chaos. Currently, Walmart's International CEO and president, Judith McKenna is on an India visit taking a stock of Flipkart group companies which includes Myntra as well.

McKenna’s tour might be one of the initiatives of the group company to better things at the firm. Communication by senior leadership often helps mitigate and control the emotional and mental challenges the entire staff might be facing. It helps both the firm and the staff to understand each other’s needs and challenges. Myntra through such initiatives deal with employee-related challenges like reduced engagement and increased attrition.

With Flipkart Fashion, Myntra and Jabong, the group has the lion’s share in the online fashion business but these small hiccups in between impact the business. Hence, a stronger foundation of employee communication is key for the business right now to enhance engagement and curb attrition.
