Vivek Sharma who was earlier heading the consumer electrical business for Panasonic as Joint Managing Director from August 2017 to March 2018, has now been elevated to the role of the Managing Director of Anchor Electricals Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Panasonic. With this Vivek becomes the first Indian to be hired as MD by Panasonic. 

In his new role he will head the electricals arm of the Panasonic Group in India and oversee the growth of all businesses comprising Wiring Devices, Switchgears; Wires, Cables & Tapes, Conduits and Trunking Solutions, Lighting, Solar, Housing, Power Tools and Indoor Air Quality.

His versatility and astute business knowledge will enable the company to implement the strategic roadmap for Anchor,” said Manish Sharma, President and CEO, India and South Asia- Panasonic India, the Electronics arm of Panasonic Corporation.

Before Panasonic, Vivek has worked in private equity firm Everstone Capital Partners, as Partner Operations. There his focus was on acquisitions in the small domestic appliances domain. He has also held senior positions at some other leading consumer durable companies in the past including Philips India Ltd. and Morphy Richards, an SBU of Bajaj Electricals Ltd, for over a decade in each. 

He has worked as President at Morphy Richards and has steered the brand to a stage where it became the fastest ever International brand to exceed the annual sales turnover of over Rs.200 crores in the Indian market for small appliances. Now, in his role at Panasonic, he will build and implement the strategic roadmap for the company and drive it towards growth. 

An alumnus of Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Vivek has expertise in brand development and ramping up startup operations to convert them into sustainably profitable brands.
