Aviation industry veteran Sanjiv Kapoor has been appointed CEO of Jet Airways, as the grounded airline prepares to take to the skies once again.

Kapoor, who is currently president of Oberoi Hotels & Resorts, will assume charge on April 4.

In the past, he has held the position of chief strategy and commercial officer at Vistara from 2016 until 2019. He has also led budget carrier SpiceJet in 2014-2015 as chief operating officer and de facto CEO from November 2013 to October 2015.

Jalan Kalrock Consortium, the new promoter of Jet Airways, has also appointed Vipula Gunatilleka as Chief Financial Officer.

“Kapoor is a seasoned aviation professional who has the right blend and demeanour to stitch a team together. I always believe in investing in human capital and by having Kapoor as the CEO and Gunatilleka as CFO, I am certain Jet Airways will reclaim its lost glory and surpass everyone’s expectation,” Murari Lal Jalan, lead partner of the Jalan-Kalrock Consortium and the proposed non-executive chairman of Jet Airways, said.
