The Tata Group company has named infrastructure veteran Sukumar Hebbar as its new managing director and chief executive officer as it expands its footprint across urban infrastructure, data centres and industrial EPC projects.

Tata Projects Limited has appointed Sukumar Hebbar as its managing director (MD) and chief executive officer (CEO) with immediate effect, strengthening the leadership team of the Tata Group's engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) business during its next phase of growth.

According to a company statement, Hebbar succeeds Vinayak Pai, who has led Tata Projects since 2022. The appointment comes as the company scales its presence across urban infrastructure, data centres and industrial EPC segments.

A seasoned infrastructure leader joins Tata Projects

Hebbar brings more than three decades of experience from Larsen & Toubro (L&T), where he spent his entire professional career before joining Tata Projects.

Most recently, he served as Senior Vice-President and IC Head of the Transportation Infrastructure Business, leading operations across roads, bridges, formations and railway projects.

His appointment adds deep infrastructure execution expertise to Tata Projects at a time when large-scale public and private investments continue across transportation, industrial and digital infrastructure.

The leadership change marks the end of Vinayak Pai's tenure as managing director and CEO, a role he assumed in 2022.

In its statement, the company said the appointment of Hebbar will further strengthen its leadership bench as Tata Projects continues to expand across multiple high-growth infrastructure segments.
