Infosys has informed its employees in the United States and Canada that the work-from-home option will no longer be available to them.

According to a report by TOI, the Bengaluru-based IT services company has announced that employees will be required to obtain special permission if they wish to work remotely.

Infosys has issued a warning regarding potential disciplinary action for employees who do not adhere to the newly implemented regulations concerning remote work. This policy applies to the company's workforce in the United States and Canada, encompassing a substantial number of over 30,000 employees.

Employees in India are presently not obligated to work from the office. Infosys had previously introduced a three-phase plan in November for Indian employees to gradually transition back to working from the office.

In February, Narayana Murthy, co-founder of Infosys, expressed his view that young individuals should not insist on working from home. "My fervent desire and humble desire to youngsters is please don't fall into this trap of I will moonlight, I will do work from home, I will come to office three days in a week," he said.

He emphasised the importance of ethics and the need to address laziness as key considerations in the workplace.
