AirAsia India CEO steps down

The CEO stepped down after two years. He will now go back to the Malaysia headquarters for strategic projects
AirAsia India CEO steps down

Amar Abrol, the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of AirAsia India has stepped down from his role. Abrol will be heading to AirAsia headquarters in Malaysia to work on group strategic projects effective June 2018 after working with the  AirAsia India for two years. 

He replaced the previous CEO Mittu Chandilya in April 2016, and since then the Airline is on an expansion mode across the country. The airline recently expanded their services to tier II cities such as Surat, Amritsar. Commenting on his stint, In the media statement, AirAsia India said, "Abrol has led AirAsia India operations over the last two years and has expanded its fleet, people and network by three-fold."

Abrol is a Chartered Accountant by profession and worked in different sectors. He started his career with Deloitte and went on to work with companies such as American Express, Tpay, and Air Asia. 

Earlier this month, AirAsia was in the news for false recruitment offers originating from non-AirAsia representatives or channels. The company then took it to social media platform and announced that it’s a scam and the public should refrain from approaching or consulting such agencies pertaining to job opportunities with AirAsia.

The company also announced that AirAsia carries out their own recruitment programs and has never required third-party agents or services to recruit on its behalf.
