The Sixth Pay Commission has recommended the introduction of a new performance based pecuniary benefit, over and above the regular salary, for Government employees. According to the Minister of State for Personnel and Public Grievances V Narayanasamy reply in the Lok Sabha, "The benefit will be called Performance Related Incentive Scheme (PRIS) and will be payable taking into account the performance of the employees during the period under consideration." This recommendation has been accepted by the Central Government and guidelines are being worked out through inter-departmental consultation.
