Seven Tata Group companies added over 37,000 employees in FY26

Seven Tata Group companies collectively added 37,667 employees during FY26, reflecting continued workforce expansion across manufacturing, hospitality, retail, digital, defence and engineering businesses, based on their latest annual reports.

Tata Electronics emerged as the group's largest recruiter during the year, contributing more than half of the total additions among the seven companies. Other businesses, including Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL), Trent, Tata Digital, Tata Advanced Systems, Titan and Tata Consulting Engineers, also reported year-on-year growth in employee numbers.

Tata Electronics leads hiring

Tata Electronics recorded the largest increase in headcount among the companies reviewed.

Its workforce increased from 65,647 employees in FY25 to 86,466 in FY26, adding 20,819 employees during the financial year.

The increase represents more than half of the combined hiring across the seven Tata Group companies.

Hospitality and retail continue expanding

IHCL reported the second-largest workforce increase.

The hospitality company added 6,345 employees, taking its total workforce from 33,130 in FY25 to 39,475 in FY26, reflecting continued expansion across its hotel business.

Trent, the Tata Group's retail business, also expanded its workforce.

Its employee count rose from 27,887 to 31,226, with 3,339 new employees added during FY26.

Digital, defence and engineering businesses add talent

Several other Tata Group businesses also strengthened their workforce during the year. According to their annual reports:

• Tata Digital added 2,435 employees, increasing its headcount from 39,088 to 41,523.
• Tata Advanced Systems expanded its workforce by 1,734 employees, taking total headcount from 7,978 to 9,712.
• Titan added 1,701 employees, growing from 12,502 employees in FY25 to 14,203 in FY26.
• Tata Consulting Engineers increased its workforce by 1,294 employees, with employee numbers rising from 5,617 to 6,911.

Hiring reflects expansion across businesses

The workforce additions span several sectors where the Tata Group continues to expand its presence, including electronics manufacturing, hospitality, organised retail, digital services, aerospace and defence, consumer products and engineering consultancy.

Among the companies reviewed, manufacturing recorded the largest increase in hiring through Tata Electronics, while hospitality and retail also reported substantial additions as IHCL and Trent continued to grow their operations.

The latest annual reports indicate that hiring remained an important part of the Tata Group's expansion strategy during FY26, with workforce growth spread across multiple business segments rather than concentrated in a single industry.
