Central government agency, National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) has tied up with talent acquisition and talent management company, TMI to assist graduates from smaller cities and towns get jobs in the corporate sector.
TMI will set up employability assessment centres at 900 colleges across the country where graduates will be trained to meet specific job requirements before they enter the corporate world. The project targets at providing nearly 5 lakh jobs over 10 years.
“We are looking for one- to three-month courses. The process is demand driven, which means jobs will be created as per the need of the industry,” said T. Muralidhar, executive chairman of TMI. He also mentioned that only about 20% of graduates find jobs in India as they lack job readiness. Smaller cities and towns are worse off, as companies are unwilling to go there to hire and train people. “The effort is to link education with employment,” he said.
“This is primarily addressed to meet the growing demand for graduate talent in the corporate sector without compromising on the candidates’ interest,” said Dilip Chenoy, managing director and chief executive of NSDC.
