Amazon to add 250,000 roles with higher pay and benefits

Amazon will hire 250,000 full-time, part-time and seasonal staff during the 2025 holiday season.
Amazon said it will hire 250,000 full-time, part-time and seasonal workers across the United States during the 2025 holiday season. The roles will be added to its fulfilment and transportation network, with new positions posted weekly from October through December.
According to the company, regular full- and part-time employees earn an average of $23 per hour with benefits, while seasonal staff earn more than $19 per hour on average.
The hiring drive is aimed at supporting operations during Amazon’s busiest period of the year. The company noted that jobs are available in communities nationwide, including rural areas.
Amazon said seasonal positions remain highly sought-after and often fill within minutes of being advertised. It added that the roles serve different needs: for some, they provide a few months of extra income during the holidays; for others, they act as an entry point into long-term careers.
The company highlighted that many employees who began in seasonal roles have since advanced to positions as managers, trainers and team leaders. It also pointed to its Career Choice programme, which pre-pays tuition for employees pursuing college degrees or certificates, as part of its long-term investment in workforce development.
Seasonal employees who stay with the company typically see pay increases over time. On average, those employed for three years have received an 18% rise in pay, according to Amazon.
Pay and benefits
Amazon said it is investing more than $1 billion this year to boost wages and lower healthcare costs for fulfilment and transportation workers in the US. It stated that average total compensation for these roles now exceeds $30 per hour when the value of elected benefits is included.
Seasonal employees are also offered flexible schedules, while those moving into regular full-time roles gain access to benefits including healthcare and education support through Career Choice, the company said.
The company confirmed that applications can be made at amazon.com/localjobs or by signing up for job alerts by texting NEWJOB to 31432. Job openings are posted weekly throughout the holiday season and tend to be filled quickly.
In its statement, Amazon added that seasonal workers are central to preparations for peak shopping events such as Prime Day and Prime Big Deal Days. The company said fulfilment centres and delivery stations adapt capacity and processes to handle the expected surge in orders during this period.
With 250,000 new positions being created this holiday season, Amazon said it is growing its US workforce while continuing to invest in pay, benefits and employee training.
