Fuelling of food law from job scheme

The rural job scheme which focuses on labour intensive projects, such as building godowns for storing foodgrains will be utilized to fuel the government’s ambitions to provide subsidized food to the poor. According to food minister, K.V.Thomas, the scheme plans to hire many people for building godowns for better implementation of the food law that provides subsidized grain to up to 67 percent of the population.

The Food Corporation of India is planning to establish many godowns in cities and towns to facilitate grain imported from these godowns to retail shops.
