There has been a dramatic rise in the number of older workers who are planning to work beyond the state pension age, CIPD research has revealed. The survey showed that the percentage of people aged 55 and above had jumped to 71% compared to 40% in a similar survey two years ago. The motivating factor behind this was found to be the financial situation. With this changing trend, the HR professionals need to prepare for the challenge of motivating this new workforce. Also, the employers will have to accommodate older workers and motivate those who wish they could be elsewhere.
