Panel to monitor MSME job creation

The nodal ministry in New Delhi has set up a 30 member panel to monitor job creation in micro and small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), the Government had allocated Rs 8,060 crore to set up five lakh projects, creating over 35 lakh jobs during the 12th Plan period (2012-17). The MSME sector contributes eight per cent to the gross domestic product of the country and its share in total exports is 36 per cent.
